I found colonies of millipedes?
In one of the branchy trees off my porch I have found multiple colonies of millipedes (those inch-long, black and yellow furry ones), some encased within web like material. I managed to saw off a few of the branches, but up one of the trunks there are several “centers of activity” I don’t want to cut these trees down because they provide nice shade. How can I put an end of this?
Also, would millipedes necessarily be attracted to wild onion plants that someone may have hung on the tree limb?
If they are furry and black and yellow then they are not millipedes. Millipedes are much longer than an inch and are not furry. You probably have Banded Wooly Bears. See site below for banded wooly bears.
Actually I believe Tigerlil is correct….I overlooked the web portion of your question….:)
