planting peace lily
What type of pot is best for a peace lily?

My peace lily came in a ceramic pot which I thought was a pot holder, but there is no inner pot – the lily is planted directly into the ceramic pot so there is no drainage. Will it be OK in that pot or should I re-pot, if so, when would be the best time?
Thanks
It’s about 8″ high and the pot is about 5″ dia. I’ve only recently received it as a present, it looks lush and beautiful and I want to keep it that way.

I find peace lillies like to live in those ‘water well’ pots. The ones with the tank at the bottom. You only need to water when the soil becomes dry.

You can’t grow any plant in a pot without drainage. Perhaps you could buy a water well type pot and repot the plant in it and place new pot back into the decorative pot.]

It will become too big for this pot so perhaps repot into another pot and grow something smaller in a pot inside the original ornate pot.

Spring would be best but it will die if you leave it from rot, so best to do as soon as possible.
