Outside lighting connection to lighting circuit?
I have just purchased some lights for my garden which need to be wired to the lighting circuit.
I currently have an outside light which is connected to the downstairs lighting trip. This existing light has a button indoors to turn it on permanently or if I switch it off it comes on with the sensor.
Would I in some way connect the new lights to this circuit, if so how is this done and what would I need to do it? Do I spur from this connection… (i’m not up-togetherr with the terminology)!
I have read and understand the type of cable needed, depth it needs to be buried underground etc. It’s just sorting out the power issue I need some help with.
Thanks in advance.
Im in the United Kingdom.
Don’t know which of the big ponds you’re floating in, so don’t know which wires to tell you to make your connections to, however, you might want to determine the rating of the sensor (what wattage it can handle).
Adding more lights will increase the load factor & the sensor might not be rated for the total you’ll acquire. If the sensor will handle your total wattage, make your connection/spur after the switch & sensor.
If the sensor will not handle the combined wattage, you’ll need to install a new switch & power feed, separate from your existing circuit.
Good luck…
